Welcome to Black Cottage Farm.
We are a 52 acre stretch of land located in the hills of Mount Sterling Eastern Kentucky that will soon be offering a YEAR ROUND Land To Table Market Shop for our community and surrounding communities. This is a place where the romance of living close to the land is embraced and celebrated everyday. We raise all animals kept here as wild as possible and as close as we can and to their ancestral way of eating and living according to their physiology. Each animal is loved on and cared for each day by our family checking regularly on their health and in doing this, we can provide you the HIGHEST quality meats, eggs, milk and more with complete and utter confidence that it will be nutritionally superior

Often described as medicine for the soul, Black Cottage Farm will be available to come shop, self pick from the orchard, sit by the lake and enjoy our flocks of ducks, self gather eggs if you wish, take on site classes for humane butchering, beekeeping, using herbals medicines for your farm animals, how to keep a family dairy goat and much more. We believe in ancestral diets for all the species of animals here at the farm. This means they eat how their physiology was intended to eat. We supplement only as needed and with hand crafted organic, corn free, soy free, seed oil free and synthetic vitamin free feed scoured from whole foods and herbs.
R O T A T I O N A L G R A Z I N G
Our pasture raised pork, goat, and chicken are moved every 2-3 days to fresh greenery. Utilizing rotational grazing is paramount in building healthy soils and allowing vegetation to regrow faster, stronger and in abundance, benefiting the land, ecosystem and the animals we raise. This is also one of our keystone systems in avoiding parasites in our animals as we move them before cycles can take place.
What about the ducks?
The ducks get to do whatever they want! They are often seen out in the lake and our creek ways or wherever their little feathered hearts take them.
H O L I S T I C + H O M E O P A T H I C
We maintain our animal’s health by using powerful organic herbs in a variety of different ways to prevent + treat common issues. If herbalism is not enough, homeopathic medicine is administered. We stay clear of conventional chemicals in the form of dewormers, medicines or anti biotics unless needed to save a life or our primary methods are not enough in which case we would find other useful purposes for the meat

We are a NO TILL, organic grower, prioritizing the soil before all else. Why? because we understand that all of the living things that make up the earth if cared for properly, give back to our fruits and vegetables by way of high mineral content and nutrition.
